a sprouting Seed

As of July 1, 2022, Empty Mountain Practice Center has taken root on a lovely 24-acre parcel of land located in the woods near Superior, Montana. We are a slow-growing, small-sprouting, and rustic practice center, based in the mindfulness tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Empty Mountain’s Founders

Hello! We are Mike & Nicole Dunn, two ordained and core members of the Order of Interbeing (or OI members for short). Oh, and we’re also married :)

I (Nicole, cuz I’m the writer in our duo) am a 44-year-old gal born and bred in the suburbs of Philly and Mike is a 44-year-old guy from eastern Montana. We’ve been practitioners in the Plum Village tradition for over 20-years, and we are whole-heartedly invested in wanting to help serve others in benefit and support on the path of practice, in the rich spirit of togetherness.

We are sangha builders. Retreat organizers. Retreat attenders. Group/class/event leaders. Students of our beloved teacher Thay (Thich Nhat Hanh). We are dedicated practitioners trying to find the balance of how to build & grow Empty Mountain while also holding down the financial fort of living a lay life in the world.

Empty Mountain’s Mission statement

Empty Mountain Practice Center, a community rooted in the mindfulness tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, aspires to move in the direction of harmony and awareness in the spirit of togetherness on the path of developing understanding and love.
